The most Instagrammable places in Cambodia
Asia is home to some truly remarkable countries and photogenic places, with Cambodia topping that list. These are the most Instagrammable places in Cambodia.

While Cambodia might not be quite as popular as other Southeast Asia destinations such as Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam, it still packs a punch when it comes to “Instagrammability”.
Home to thousands of temples across the country, beautiful beaches, bustling streets and of course, endless opportunities for beautiful sunsets, Cambodia is a place that can offer even the most novice photographers the chance to capture something magical on camera.
Throughout this guide of the most Instagrammable places in Cambodia, you’ll be virtually taken all over the country to find the best photo spots. From Siem Reap in the north, down towards the capital city of Phnom Penh, all the way to the tiny islands off the south coast such as Koh Rong, you certainly won’t struggle to find truly stunning places to take pictures of.
Here are our top recommendations of the most Instagrammable places in Cambodia!
Angkor Wat at sunrise
Starting off with arguably the most obvious and definitely most-photographed stop on our “tour” of the most Instagrammable places in Cambodia; Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. Specifically, Angkor Wat at sunrise.
No trip to Cambodia would be complete without visiting the world-famous temples at Angkor Wat and if you visit at sunrise, you’ll be treated to a truly magical event of seeing the early morning glow cast the huge temple in spectacular sunlight.
As this is such an iconic thing to see and do in Cambodia, it’s safe to say that Angkor Wat at sunrise is a very busy time to visit. However, it’s likely to be a once in a lifetime opportunity, so if you can tolerate the crowds and get there as early as possible, you can guarantee you won’t regret it!
Koh Rong
Koh Rong is a small island in the south of Cambodia that resides just off the coast of Sihanoukville. It’s actually the slightly bigger island to its next door neighbor, Koh Rong Samloem, but Koh Rong itself is arguably more Instagrammable.
The white-sand beaches are delightful to sink your toes into and the stunning blue water is perfect for a cool-off when the Cambodian sunshine inevitably becomes too intense.
Unfortunately, there are a few parts of the island that aren’t quite properly developed just yet, so you will also likely see piles of rubbish and rubble around the island. However, the beaches themselves usually always look remarkable and you can guarantee that you’ll be able to snap an enviable Instagram picture or two!
Ta Prohm Temple
Ta Prohm is part of the Angkor Wat temples complex and is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent and Instagrammable places in Cambodia.
The trees that form part of the temple are truly a remarkable sight to see and you’ll definitely want to snap a picture or two here.
If you’ve seen the Hollywood movie ‘Tomb Raider’ starring Angelina Jolie, you’ll likely recognize Ta Prohm from some scenes in the film where the protagonist is running through the temple. It’s due to this movie trivia, that Ta Prohm is often swarmed with tourists but if you book a tour of Angkor Wat, your tour guide will likely take you here anyway and it’s definitely worth a visit, despite the crowds.
Pub Street, Siem Reap
Another top Instagrammable spot in Siem Reap is the infamous Pub Street. Here you’ll find the city’s best bars, clubs and restaurants and of course, plenty of tourists as well.
Even if drinking and dancing aren’t really your cup of tea, it’s still worth having a stroll down Pub Street to capture the iconic party scenes. The whole street (and even little side streets) are decked out with luminous lights, lanterns and neon signs that make for the perfect Instagram photo opportunity.
Pub Street even looks awesome during the day too, so you really don’t have to put yourself in amongst the rowdy crowds just to get a photo; simply head there earlier in the day and enjoy the quieter side of the street.
Kampot salt fields
Cambodia is renowned for producing tons of salt and that’s largely thanks to the plentiful salt fields that surround the small city of Kampot in the south of the country.
Kampot’s salt fields might not look all that riveting during the day, but as soon as sunset starts to set in, you’re sure to be in for a treat. The sun’s golden glow provides the salt fields with a striking light and it makes for such an alluring photograph.
The salt fields reside just a little out of the center of Kampot, so you can either travel there via motorbike if you decide to hire one, or ask a local tuk tuk driver to take you on a mini tour there.
Make sure you arrive just before sunset so you have the chance to explore the fields first and then step back and admire the exquisite sunset that takes the city from day to night.
Royal Palace, Phnom Penh
Last but by no means least on our list of the most Instagrammable places in Cambodia is the wonderful Royal Palace in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
Despite being the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh isn’t quite as popular as Siem Reap with tourists, but it’s still a place that’s well worth visiting while you’re there.
If you’re looking for a particularly Instagrammable spot in Phnom Penh, make sure you add the Royal Palace to your itinerary. The Palace serves as the royal residence for the king of Cambodia, so not only is it very photogenic and Instagrammable, it’s also a very important building in Cambodia.
The marvelous Palace resides just a couple of hundred meters from the banks of the Mekong River which incidentally is another Instagrammable place in Cambodia, and you can see both one after the other!
As you can see, Cambodia is teeming with unforgettable places that are sure to make you want to upload all of your photos immediately to Instagram!
