How to get from Bol to Split

Luckily for you, the journey from Bol, on Brac Island, to Split is like going from paradise to paradise.
A high-speed ferry ride is your best choice for making the connection. It’s affordable, convenient, and extremely relaxing. Get your camera ready because you will want to capture the beauty of the Croatian coastline as you pull into port.
What is Split Like?
Do you like architecture? Maybe you’re a history buff? Perhaps you’re the adventurous type and like to hike for hours. Split offers a little bit of everything, so you will never be bored.
As you journey across the city, you’ll run into ancient ruins, open-air flea markets, towering cathedrals, and cobblestoned streets.
Exploring the city is one intriguing aspect of Split, but equally as captivating is the turquoise-blue water right out of a postcard. If you make your way here in July and August, the water will be warm enough to dip your toes in and take a summertime swim.
Things to do in Split
Split isn’t without its fair share of activities and attractions.
If you’re interested in learning about the Romans’ influence on this area, the historic Diocletian’s Palace is a sight. This third-century landmark commemorates the Roman emperor Diocletian and makes up half the old town.
Afterward, climb Marjan Hill, a 314-step journey to its highest point, where you can capture Split’s astonishing beauty from high above.
Strolling along the picture-perfect Riva Promenade is a relaxing and surprisingly entertaining thing to do. You can take in the lively activity flowing from the bars and restaurants that line the promenade.
Krka National Park is under an hour's drive from Split. Its iconic waterfalls have become a famous image for Croatia. Go hiking and admire the powerful cascades, and then once you’ve built up a sweat, go for a refreshing swim in one of the turquoise pools.

Transportation from Bol to Split
There are three primary ways to get from Bol to Split:
A high-speed ferry
A private speedboat ferry
Car or minivan. This is when a car or minivan picks you up, takes you to the ferry, and drops you off at the Split airport.
Keep in mind that ferries are weather-dependent.
High-Speed Ferry from Bol to Split
This is the most affordable and convenient way to travel from Bol to Split. High-speed ferries operate between May and October when the weather is warmer. Prices are very affordable and they provide a lot of different amenities, including air-conditioning, food and drinks, and restrooms.
It’s important to note that these ferries will not operate in poor weather conditions, and schedules are subject to change.

Private Speedboat Ferry from Bol to Split
These private boats can carry from four to eight passengers. They provide drinks and snacks and have an English-speaking staff. It’s extremely convenient, and you can leave anytime during the day.
These are the most expensive, starting at $440 per boat, and the travel time is between 60 and 75 minutes.
Each passenger is allowed to bring a 20 kg bag and 7 kg handbag.
It connects from Bol Port to Matejuska Port.
Private Car/Minivan from Bol to Split
If you want luxury and comfort, this is the way to go.
Private cars start at $261 per car.
The driver will pick you up at any Bol hotel and take you to the port. Once you arrive in Split, you will be driven to the Split Airport.
Overall travel time is approximately two hours, and the car includes air conditioning, WiFi, and a child's car seat.
Cars hold up to three passengers.
You can carry up to 23 kg bag per passenger.
Private minivans start at $287 per minivan and hold up to eight people. The amenities are the same as those of a car. Additionally, pets are allowed.
Where will I arrive in Split?
Split has three ports:
Matejuska Port is the most popular option. It is located just south of Republic Square and near Diocetian’s Palace.
Obala Lazareta 3 is right near Matejuska Port and just south of Diocletian’s Palace.
The Split Ferry Terminal is the southernmost port near the Split train station.
When is the best time to travel to Split?
June, July, and August are the best months to visit to take advantage of the warmest weather and immaculate water. Daytime highs soar past 80°F (27°C) with blue skies every day. Be mindful that this is peak tourist season, and it can get quite crowded.
If you’re looking to dodge the crowds, consider booking in September or October when many of the tourists have gone home. The weather is still lovely for exploring Split with fewer crowds. Bring a jacket for those cool nights, though.
