About the ride from Porec to Venice

The trip to Venice is an easy one. Still, you need to remember that no matter how you choose to get there, you’ll leave Croatia and enter Italy.

Both countries are part of the EU, but Italy is part of the Schengen Zone, and Croatia is not. So you’ll need to double-check all visa requirements for entering Italy and have your passport ready for your journey.

Crossing the border is straightforward, no matter if you’re on a bus or ferry. All you’ll need is your valid passport (and visa, if applicable).

Border patrol agents will check passports on your bus. Or you will be asked to step off during the border crossing between Croatia and Slovenia, as this is where you will enter the Schengen Zone. Then, officials will check your documents, stamp your passport, and you’ll be on your way! There is no other border check between Slovenia and Italy.

If you travel via ferry, you’ll pass through immigration at the port in Venice. It is a very similar process to the bus. Your documents will be checked and stamped by an officer, and then you will carry on and enjoy your travels.

It’s also helpful to note that while Croatia is part of the EU, they do not use the Euro. Instead, they use Croatian Kuna. Italy, on the other hand, uses the Euro. This means you’ll want to have some Euro ready for your arrival.

After you’ve had your fill of Istrian wine and seen all the Byzantine mosaics in Porec, why not head to Venice

Plus, who doesn’t want to go to Venice? It’s known as the most picturesque city in all of Italy and for good reason.
