How to get from Naxos to Piraeus

Since there are 179 km (111.9 miles) of water separating Naxos from Piraeus, you’ll need to hop on a ferry.

The ferry can take anywhere from 3 to 5.5 hours, depending on the company and the weather conditions. It may seem like a reasonably long journey, but the ferries are pretty big and comfortable.

On board, you’ll find small cafes to buy hot and cold food and drinks.

If you’re bringing luggage, you can either keep your bags with you or store them in the designated luggage area.

This route is operated by Blue Star Ferries and Sea Jets. Both companies leave from Naxos Port and arrive in Piraeus Port.

You can drive your vehicles onto these ferries but arrive 1.5 hours before departure to organize it and line up if that’s your plan.

What to expect from the journey from Naxos to Piraeus

The journey from Naxos to Piraeus is as straightforward as it gets.

Once on board the ferry, get comfortable, read a book, get hooked on a series or watch as the blue waves roll around you. Most ferries have an outside deck where you can get some fresh air and feel the salty breeze.

The ferries are reasonably large, so you shouldn’t feel the movement of the sea too much. That being said, if you’re prone to seasickness, it might be worth taking some medication just in case.

The best time to visit Piraeus for fabulous weather is between May and September, which gives you plenty of time to visit.

May and June are when the temperature really starts to heat up, with an average of 29°C/84°F and as little as two days of rain.

July and August are the most popular months, with lots of ships and cruises arriving and departing from this port city. If you’re not a fan of crowds, you may want to avoid these months.

If that’s you, maybe save your visit until September, when the weather is still glorious but the hustle and bustle slows down a little.
