About the ride from Amalfi to Salerno

There’s just something about southern Italy’s coastline that keeps poets, artists and holidaymakers coming back for more. Although, with all those quaint little seaside towns and chic offshore islands, it’s a wonder there’s any space left for the locals!

Discovering the sparkling waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea for yourself is an excellent idea if you’re traveling around Europe. And taking the ferry from Amalfi to Salerno is certainly a perfect way to start to explore.

The ferries running this stretch of the Amalfi Coast are more like pleasure cruisers and come fully equipped with inside and outside seating, an air-conditioned below deck cabin and an onboard washroom.

The two service providers organizing high-speed ferries on this route are NLG (Navigazione Libera Del Golfo) and Travelmar. Both are well-established operators and consider passenger safety to be a number one priority.

The ferry is an efficient way to travel, especially when you think about the alternative—all those narrow coastal roads and hairpin bends! Not fun for anyone who gets car sick.

One-way ticket prices start from US$14 for Travelmar’s high-speed ferry and rise to US$16 for NLG’s. Both ferries have similar facilities and amenities. The main difference is that NLG’s vessel takes 30 minutes and Travelmar’s takes an hour.
