Krabi is a popular arrival point for travelers and holiday makers making their way to the resort town of Ao Nang. You’ll arrive at Krabi - either at the airport or the pier depending on your route - and from there it’s a short journey of 17km (10.5 miles) to the beautiful beaches of Ao Nang.
It’s a short journey, and you can book a seat on a minivan - which will take about 1.5 hours to go from Krabi to Ao Nang - or you can book a private car which will get you to your accommodation in about 40 minutes.
Ao Nang is in the province of Krabi, and is a popular destination for people looking to hit the beach, rest and recharge, so whether this is your holiday or you’ve been traveling and want to enjoy a more chilled out pace of life for some time, it’s an easy, comfortable journey.
Once in Ao Nang you can enjoy the beautiful Andaman Sea, enjoy the vibrant nightlife and food in the evening, and explore the markets and shopping. You can even go island hopping, with the beautiful island of Koh Poda being just 25 minutes away by boat, or go hiking and ziplining in the nearby adventure parks.
It’s a short drive from Krabi to Ao Nang, as you look out the window you see the holiday feeling begin to grow. Highways give way to small, palm tree-lined roads, as the beautiful sea comes into view.
You’ll see local life going on around you, from local markets, roadside fruit stalls, not to mention scooters zooming in and out of traffic as people go about their lives.
As you arrive in Ao Nang you can expect to see a bustling resort town, complete with stores, restaurants, beaches, and hotels. You have arrived!
Taking a minivan
Taking a minivan from Krabi to Ao Nang is a great option if you’re traveling in a group. The minivan is comfortable, has A/C, and will take you directly to your accommodation.
The journey time depends on your starting point, and whether you hire a private minivan or join the Airport Shuttle minivan. From Krabi airport, a private minivan will take about 40 minutes, whilst the Airport Shuttle takes about 1.5 hours.
The Airport Shuttle is the cheapest option, and a good option, if you’re traveling alone or are on a budget, whilst hiring a minivan for up to 9 people, is a great choice if you’re traveling ina group.
From Klong Jirod pier you can take a private minivan which will take to your accommodation in about 35 minutes. There is no shuttle minivan from the pier.
Taking a private car
You also have the option of taking a comfortable, air-conditioned private car, which can accommodate up to 3 people. This is great if you are in a small group, or traveling alone and want the privacy of a private car (or need the space if you have a lot of luggage!).
The journey time is about 40 minutes from Krabi Airport and about 25 minutes from Klong Jirod pier.
It’s a very easy journey, and your driver will meet you at the airport or pier, and drop you off at your accommodation.
